does any one have cctv here? Im wondering what types/setups.

Im looking at getting CCTV as there been some trouble in the area to peoples cars and stuff. I think the best would be motion detected to save on recording space...but there are so many different types, ranging from about 10£ up to like 500£ :S

If you desperatly want CCTV then im not sure, if you just want the threat of CCTV you can get fake cameras that have an LED powered by a battery, some of them even move I think

when watching road wars, traffic cops etc when the TWOC'ers complain about being filmed the coppers say they can film as they are in a public place?

we have 3 camera's, with hard drive 80gb, records for about a month depending on the quality.

got it from maplins, about £300, no more.

Infra red night cameras etc.
linked to the tv in the kitchen so we can see whos at the door, whos entering the front gate and over our rear garden.
It only records on our property.. and if anything happens to our cars.. we can check back to see whats gone off.

CCTV.... have you signed a form to allow you to be filmed in the shopping centres or in the street... CCTV is used there if anything goes belly up

I'd rather have it than not!

have a look here....

CCTV can be used to prove to police and up at court, We have done once when one of our cars had been tamperd with.

the police did state you MUST have a sign up to let other know there is CCTV.

if you're doing nothing wrong it doesn't matter if you have CCTV on your property.

We have CCTV after one of our cars was fucked over a couple of times, thats just a single camera system and cost a few hundred to have it all pro fitted. Have also installed it in one of our womenswear shops as were having a few items stolen - this one is a 4 camera wireless system, I bought and installed all this for a few hundred.

The filming needs to be done in colour (or IR at night) in order for it to be used in court.

I've got a couple connected to a server in my loft (that was 100% required, wasn't anything to do with me also being able to leave it on downloading torrents ) and sent round to all the tv's in the house, different cameras on different channels.
Don't really care about rules and regulations, wouldn't be going to the police with it anyway.

very happy with it.

just remember, each camera needs a power supply for it and the recoder does too.r

The web interface of one of the cameras, I got good cameras but a cheap capture card, the reason it was cheap is because of the extremely bad software, it does the job though.

We had CCTV in our back garden - problems with the neighbours. It wasnt connected up, but was pointing at there property. The cops arrived and made us move it. Even though it wasn't connected they said it was an offence as we were putting our neighbours in 'a state of fear and alarm' by having it pointing at there house - therefore they could charge us with a Breach of the Peace

PS They said if it was connected and filming in our own garden it would be ok
