When I got the car the steering column had been bent because someone had tried to steal it, I think the bent column has fudged the rack, the input shaft has a slight kink in it and it makes the shaft stick.

Someone tried to nick the car before I bought it and they bent the column, i assume it fudged the rack too.

God knows why I double posted lol

I removed the old steering rack this morning so I can take it with me when I get the new to avoid paying a surcharge..

Ironically I thought it was going to be an arsehole of a job because the inlet is in the way but from underneath it wasnt too bad, I dropped the engine off the front mounts and i had enough room to bring it out through the top of the bay.

I checked out the old rack and the input shaft is clearly bent

I'm using 00 Vectra calipers and the vectra pads.. Not sure if the Meriva ones fit as I already had a set of new pads and didnt want to tamper with the box.

Some up-to-date shots of the engine bay.. I've been making up brackets for various bits.. I still need to make up a bracket for the FPR and fit a Corsa C coolant tank or find a nice alloy one.

Fueling: Had to plumb in an FPR in the engine bay.

Throttle: Took a little while to find a suitable throttle cable.

Exaust: Had to make up a custom mid section.

wouldnt the x16xe manifold fit so you could use a 1.6 sport system, is the fuel pressure different to that of the x14xe or the spi models

The X18XE1/Z18XE head is very different to the X16XE/X14XE head so the manifold doesnt fit.. The inlet is tappered and the stud pattern is no where near the same, the head is actually quite a good bit of GM engineering
