Nice idea mate - should be a reliable, nippy motor with decent MPG to boot!

Can you tell me more about the mounts used, drive shafts, gear box etc?

Bolts onto standard gearbox and mounts.. The loom is a piece of piss as the simtec ecu is a twin connector type; colour to colour appart from the brown/white (from the ecu) which needs to go to blue/red on the car loom

The only problem I have is one of the heater matrix pipes are fouled by the inlet and the standard coolant tank wont fit between the ecu and battery

Put the battery in the boot then!

Im thinking of a 1.8 engine for my corsa. Newer and lighter than redtops for not much less power when tuned

ECU is still in the way but I might relocate the battery none the less

Also the 1.8 is long stroke so much more torque, perfect for acceleration

It'll be the X18XE1 as I said - this conversation was in a recent thread started by Mobby, where I found out the Z18XE is fly-by-wire throttle, so a hell of a lot more difficult to wire in.

The X18XE1 is almost identical (fitting wise) to the X14XE/X16XE, with just a quick wiring fix to sort the ECU.

Hang on, I'll see if I can find the thread.

Should be relatively simple too, you just need to add the D.B.W throttle.
