PC World have a habit of doing that in sales.

They have a few items that they know will bring people in and they have 1 in stock in the whole of Britain.

Hmmmmm the nearest one that has stock is a 50 mile round trip for me.

Tempting though as I was looking to upgrade my RAM.

I currently have this:
Crucial 2GB Kit (2x1GB) DDR2 800MHz/PC2-6400 Memory Non-ECC Unbuffered CL6 Lifetime Warranty

So I assuming that this RAM will work fine and be an improvement?

Just looked and the voltage settings are set on 'Auto' so if I put the RAM in then the board should automatically give the RAM enough voltage?

Should of asked me earlier and I would have picked it up for you

Im going to set my voltage to 2.1 on the RAM and then shut down and fit this OCZ stuff. Its pretty big with the heatsinks etc

no you fucking burk doug,

look at the pretty ram, there will be a not so pretty sticker telling you what timings to use and what voltage to use.

All the sticker on the RAM says is...

PC2 6400
2 GB Dual Channel
Reaper X Series
5-4-4

That means nothing to me though. A Quick google suggests that this RAM needs 2.1V.

I dont really understand how I would alter the timings etc. If someone wants to take the time to explain it I would be very gratefull

I am using a Asus mobo and using the AIsuite I have set the DRAM Voltage to 2.100V and the DRAM Frequency to 800mhz.

If those settings are wrong then please please please correct me

It dosnt give me any options for timing so not sure what to use to change that setting.

Vista is saying that the system has 4GB RAM so im not sure if it is actually seeing 4GB and using it all or if it just seeing 3.5 and saying 4GB to keep the average customer happy?

Thanks

Leave it all at auto.

The voltage doesn't matter if the system is stable, lower the better.

If you go into task manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and have a look in the performance tab it should let you know how much of your 4Gb is being used. I know mine is 3.4Gb but it will vary depending on your system and memory addressing.
