I have recently bought a 10 point rollcage which I collected last night but it is in need of finishing as it is in a bare, unfinished state.
I will be getting the cage powder coated so that the finish has some sort of longevity to it, as it has door bars so I think a 'from the gun' paint finish would soon scuff and look messy (may lag it at a later date?) but wondered if anyone had any thoughts on what colour to get it done? I am currently leaning towards white to go with the MO's.
This is the car (ignore the tw.at cap, thats going);

This is the cage;

Problem is that it is mild steel so quickly tarnishes due to oxidisation. Could lacquer it afterwards I suppose but not too sure that it would adhere to a polished surface too well?

Thinking about the polished thing, I suppose I could see if it would fit in my mates chrome tank?

Like this?

I actually like that, don't think it would work on a red car but it may be worth a punt for my R5 as I wanted a lime green or yellow cage in that!

It's not really any further on than when you saw it, although I have bought more bits, so I suppose it's now further away in a round about way?

TBH I think it will end up that colour, maybe black (as suggested above) or maybe see about having it chromed as Nath said (in a roundabout way! ) as I don't think Red, sorry Flame Pink, lends itself to many options and I don't want too many colours as the engine bay is all chrome/carbon/blue.
The fuel cap was on when I bought it, I got a normal red cap but the lug that the central locking fired into was longer on a non GSI cap (god knows why?) so I put that back on for safety reasons and as an anti-pikey device. I have a caribic blue GSI cap off my old GSI I broke which I have to paint, along with the GSI front, electric mirrors etc.
Still, it could be worse, it could still have this POS stuck on the front! http://www.corsasport.co.uk/board/viewthread.php?tid=305201
