A CB isnt what police use, they use a dual band radio which send different signals..
i have a home CB radio and a 15 foot antenna.. i dont get police radio on that.

ahh kangaroojack
you still want one badly then i assume.
i really like my setup. the radio is circa 1989 and is still very good. a farmer gave me it for free, as it was sat in his shed.
from my experience, older radios are much better.
i have used modern radios and they tend to break quite easily when bashed about inside a rough driving car.
CB radio are all the same format, 40 channels in the united kingdom. (no you cannot recieve police radio without modification)
modern 80 channel CB radios have the capability of 'CQ DX' long distance european transmission on warm and stormy days. good fun.
a well executed mobile setup within a car will exceed capabilities of a handheld radio by far.
my radio has an average range of around a 10-15 mile radius, whereas a handheld will struggle from a few car lengths.
it is funny having a large antenna, i have a screw type bracket mount on my boot (i can get photographs if requested).
it is a good giggle and an absolute life-line in cruise convoys amongst friends.
i have been drinking, please excuse me.
i will support you people, if you need help i can give you more technical/general information

prolly same as the home one..
you will need a 12v to 240v converter.. like the ones for the PS2.. then plug the CB in, then wire the antenna up job done.

15' homebase antenna, bet you get some proper bend on that
jack, no problem mate. i never knew this was so popular, i am pleased about this.
i will give you a brief technical description until i can get some photpgraphs for you another day:
the CB radio setup itself on my car is tapped into the car stero wiring loom.
power is sourced from the car stereo power supply, it is perfect. (remember an in-line fuse of course).
that way, the radio is powered in compliance with the stereo/car ignition.
the antenna co-axial wire is lead from the dashboard shelf compartment,
alnong the A-pillar interior trim and along the door/headlining, up to the boot mount.
that is pretty much it man, it is old technology not so hard.
the only technical part of the installation is callibrating the precise length of the antenna.
i'm so drunk i cannot remeber the precise details, but i will post back on here soon i assure you.

Your spelling's doing well for being drunk mate
