thought id treat the gti and bought the following;

Pugsport s/s 2'' outward rolled decat full system (group n)
raceland s/s 4-2-1 manifold
raceland enclosed induction kit with green filter.

cant wait to get it all fitted!

what sort of bhp gains will i get from this?
pugsport is aparently 7bhp
and manifold aparently frees up around 10brake... but then again ripspeed stickers add around 50bhp so....

pugsport made a noticable difference on my car... 4-2-1 mani didn't do much apart from noise / lower torque maybe?

I think that figure is from the fact that most of these cars don't make 120 bhp standard... so people fit those simple mods, get their car RR'd and get 135-140 bhp and go hang on ? I must of got 15-20 bhp from those.

This was what my car made with those mods will has listed

It also took my 1/4 mile time from 16.1 to 15.3 so must of gained some power.

how new? to be honest that's all a bit balls, I just think some make more power than others...

but 99/00 models seem to make interesting power on the dyno ... 2 pronged head with NO egr valve. Its like pug redesigned the head to combat the effect of lack of power through EGR valve, but initially used the head without the EGR valve...

but mines 1998 and hasn't got 2 prongs or egr valve so who knows

You not driven it will? Jesus christ this car is gonna feel quick to you if you have all that gear on it the first time you drive it.

I went from a 1.2 16v Sxi and the first time I drove the 106 gti (standard) I felt like it was going into warp drive everytime it hit 4k rpm... i remember just driving it about 1st night, 2nd gear... just tootling along at 25 - 30 mph... then nailing it and smiling

Sadly that feeling wears off.

Fitting the pugsport etc made it feel quicker again

but that feeling soon wears off

So I cammed it and got it remapped

but sadly that feeling wears off

It now feels slow to me... but strangely when people who have similar speed cars take me out as a passenger in their cars, their car feels QUICK!

then i get in my car and it feels slow, but I'm going same speed / quicker than there car does? so i must be going faster than that feeling i got in their car weird.

Oh yeh if you ever go to cam your car... Fit a standalone ECU (KMS / Omex etc) don't remap your standard ECU like i did. At the time you'll say you plan to cam it and leave it at that and never fit throttle bodies...

... but you'll then WANT to fit throttle bodies along with high comps and lairier cams. However, it'll now require you to buy a new standalone ecu and chuck away your old map.

My biggest regret, otherwise i'd have throttle bodies, high comps and wilder cams now 170-180 + bhp

This is my car on track (video)

i am thinking about leaving it standard, then each week ad another mod once ive got insurance, so i feel the difference. but i wasn the sweet pugsport soundtrack!
mines a 2002 so duno what the difference is from a 1998?
i dont think my corsa made it over 85!
god this summer will be fun with the windy roads near me!! lovely place called princetown right by my next door (by dartmoor prison) guna enjoy taking it up there!!!

no real diff between 2002 and 1998. You'll have an EGR valve.

Just take it easy mate. They're quick if you're not used to it, and watch out for lift off oversteer!

my simota has a stainless bit of pipe, but i sold it to someone fairly cheap and bought a ecosse off someone cheap and stuck my green filter inside. The ecosse had samco hose.

Lift off oversteer is, when you're in a bend, if you lift off all of a sudden when travelling at speed the back will go light and the front may start to spin into the corner...

What not to do is pile on tonnes of opposite lock and hold the opposite lock for too long... wait for it to grip suddenly launch you off the other way straight into a barrier or whatever (or then correct that and do the same back the other way ... repeat until you crash /spin out).

There's a guy on 106 owners with a silver 106 quicksilver that sounds like this got him recently ... 'he was doing 40 on a rounadbout, back end went, he put opposite lock on and it launched him off into the kerb'.

What you should do is, firstly not lift mid bend... but if you do, put some throttle back on, slightly put on some opposite lock and then unwind it back so your wheel is straight / turning like you were previously again...

I personally use lift off oversteer to help get the nose to turn in a bit tighter sometimes... It's a good thing really, as the car is more prone to oversteer than understeer (which is why our cars handle well).

In this vid around 7:10, you'll see a bit of lift off oversteer / me on the brakes a bit too long when going to turn into the chicane. Bit stupid of me (you can hear all the tyres let go and start screaching)... but i apply a slight bit of opposite lock and then cancel it. Not the best example as it did catch me off guard. but I didn't spin

and here's a vid of when it goes wrong.

Basically he should've kept some throttle on at all times (Even if it was slight)

you'll need to do some counter steer, but not pile it on like full lock, and it's important once you've put it on, that you unwind it again and straight up (return to the direction you want to travel) quickly, as if the front wheels suddenly re grip and you've got full lock it'll throw you off into a hedge
