Not sure, he may have been talking about the RV8 as used in the Range Rover prior to the BMW engines being used. It is cross bolted, so strong, and parts are cheap, and the unit is very light (all alloy) and small.

Not sure though, Paul will be along in a while to confirm...

First production car to break 250mph wasn't it?

Back in the 80's as well?

Ahhh, 254.7mph, 1988!!!!!

That the kiddy Damian

I first discovered this car in 1989 when I bought a copy of World Sports Car magazine. It was the cover car.

I have to say it was quite something to be reading about a car that had double the power of a Grp A RS500 and more power than a Formula 1 car.

Still so awesome and really rather understated too.

Yeah, if it's all alloy it will be a Rover (Buick) lump. The block of the Ford 4.6 is Detroit iron and weighs a sodding ton.
Well I have to admit that work on the car has been delayed a little more as the final details on my house took a little longer than I would wish, and that is due to other ppl than me....

But, i'we had little warm up and done a little sorting out of what to commence with when i get 100% back to the car - hopefully next week.

Plumbing of fuel/water/boost is first up, then i start terminating all the wires that is pulled all around in the car , and then it is time to crank her for the first time in a loong time!
Definately looking forward to that.

A few pictures og more or less relevance...

The silicone damper on the crank has to be made ready for the belt drive fuel pump, so we made up a little piece like this, and welded the pulley to it :

Quite trikcy to weld nicely inside this tiny window, but it got "approved"

This is the actual fuel pump, without the pulley, the pressure regulator, and I finally got together all the fittings i was missing.

This is the Fuel filter, a nice feature with this one is that it can be closed for inspection of the filter wtihout draining the whole tank.

Som other bits lying around , shortly to be fitted...

Soon coming up some more intresting pictures as work gets done, we still have a few cool new ideas coming up so watch this space
I just dont think the pictures of the work i'we doene lately looks good! but anyway, it is the fuel system that is beeing completed theese days...

Mechanical fuel pump in place with a decent bracket made up for it

Fuel pressure sregulator in place at the left. 2 AN8 hooses from this and out to each of the fuel rails,AN10 inn an AN10 out, you can also se the pulley on the crank damper for driving the fuel pump.

close up of regulatoren

Below, an10 both to and back to fuel cell

little more tricky to to cam timing on theese than on the YB!!

A few "historical" pictures i accidently found the other day...

Now this a long time ago....

drag racing gardermoen summer 2001

Ready for a few laps at rudskogen ,gatebil 1998

gatebil @ rudskogen, MANY MANY years ago...

The black hooses and fittings simply dont look good in photos...

This time around i do fittings and reinforced hooses for everything, oil, water, pressure sensors, wastegetes and so on... i want stuff to stay put when in place!!

Fuel out of 2 an8 exits in the F.cell, and then over into a Y piece for AN10 onwards to the fuel filter.

Fuel filter with a stopping crane(?) , before the hoose goes on to the pump

Teh pictures of complete engine, with inlet, coils, f.rails and wastegates is something to look forward to, it looks pretty cool
Is a hoose a hose?

I think it might take off when he runs it tbh.
