My cousin (mechanic) is doing this at the weekend and said to get some wheel bearing grease as need to take the bearings out to do it,is this right?.....had new cables fitted about a year ago and the handbrake is really slack and does'nt hold well

yes mate the bearing just sits in the drum and always falls out when removing the drum so get an old rag an some grese

You can do it on the cable over the rear beam?

normal clear grese should do the trick m8 it will b seized the part of the axle always is

just tighten it up with the adjuster in the middle of the rear beam, maul grips and a spanner will do the job, may need sum wd-40 but easy enough!!
