...had to fork out £120 to get the car home

How easy would it be to try and remove the key piece? Its about half of the key, and its been pushed in too far when I tried to remove it. The AA man used this tool to remove it, but couldnt do it. Any suggestions bar replacing all the locks?

Corsa C 2003 btw.

Any pictures? How far in is the key, or indeed how much if any is protruding?

None of the key is protruding, and no pics im afraid. The key is in its normal position had it still been attached to the key if the car was running

Remove the ignition barrel and see if you can strip it down to get the key out.

If its anything like a Corsa B the barrel is really easy to remove all you need is a drill bit and push it into the hole on the casing to release it then it slides out.

but the key has to be in the lock in a certain position,

try putting whats left of the key in the barrel to see if the 2 bits will make it work, then move the key to position 1 and it will come about as above,

Push it fully in and use the stubby bit that is left to turn and start the car. If it's all lined up, i can't see why it won't turn.

If you have a spare then you can still open and lock the doors.

The bit inside the barrel has been pushed further by the AA man by mistake so the stump doesnt connect to the lost bit anymore

If you cant get the barrel out clean your gna have to replace the barrel.

Getting the current barrel out may prove to be a bitch! Big hammers and drills may be needed.

Should have just taken the box off the back to start it to get you home. Ignition barrel comes out easy enough.
