Weellllllllllllllllllll, been doing this project for over a year now, on and off, getting sick & getting interested again.

Basically, i had a crappy 1.2 L reg red corsa to runaround in, then i decided to play about with it.

Decided to go the old 2.0 16v route.

Then a mate had a sport with a paggered engine, so i bought that, as it had a nice interior & was a bonny colour.

I borrowed my sisters garage to do the conversion.

"Yeh, i'll only need it for 3-4 weeks"

that was in jan last year

Anyways, onto the build...

It all started with this picture...

i had to have those lights!

I also bought some 2nd hand spax rsx coilovers, and some 80mm rears from Dave A

Put the coilovers, 80mm rears, cav casero rims & some 288mm brakes on the red runaround, to bed them in ready for the swap onto the purple nurple.

Bought a semi smooth tailgate & fitted it to the red peril, for a larf.

Then bought this...

Picked up a decent 2.0 16v lump from Bradders, also found a F20 box with a F18W 5th Gear.

Had a mock up of the bodywork...

Managed to find some uber rare Zender skirts & rear spoiler!

Anyone know of another set?

pic of what the spoiler should look like, reminds me of a nova gsi jobbie

sport lump ready to come out

Found a nice SBD Type A minfold, white wrap, std manifold is in yellow wrap, for size comparison

Stregthening plates welded on

new plates, front is a touch small!

Yoink!

bit of a mess!

How the Zender skirts look

decided to strip the engine, make sure theres no nasty suprises waiting for me.

Coscast head!

Painted block black, i dont want to know about oil leaks

Engine bay, i should have replaced the rack when i was at this stage, will cause me problems later!

Had a break in, the rear of the garage was corograted metal, they used massive tin snips to cut a door in it!

They nicked my road angel, a daft sub box & some other little bits, made a big fooking mess too.

As a bonus, i was able to do a tidy up, and we breeze blocked the rear up.

cleaned the head up

Coloured hoses are for posers

Clean inlet!

Poly bushes, whoop

Box & block in

The whole reason i bought this car, was because it had a nice interior...

So, i've bought a cage & started to rip it out. hmm, logical, i like it.

Track slag = low weight...

Hmmm, Cage + Corsa Sunroof = Annoyed Mark

Trial Fit

Seats!

Harnesesesesses!

Quick lash of satin black

It Runs!

Ikkle Pulley

Fitted exhaust manifold heatshield, shame the manifold is so beefy, it hangs out, so pretty pointless

27mm front ARB & poly tie bar mounts, got some more poly bushes to go on, but i'll save that for when i fit brakes, hubs & suspension

Todays plan was to get the oil cooler bracketry sorted, i've found out i need new tools

Started off being held in place with some wire

Then got the metal & grinder out to play.

One wasnt really up to the job, so another was made up..

All done..

Note, ran out of threaded bar, so cable ties are holding it in place till i get some more.

Then feeling the joys of the grinder, i decided to tackle the reasons the seats wouldnt sit right...

Just need some box section now to go from where i ground off the brackets to about a foot back over, and an upright support. I hope to be able to fit some captive nuts to the box section, to make moving the seats back & forth a bit quicker.

Today i have been mostley fitting goodridge hoses, calipers & pads, rear arb's, grinding more interior bits off (i burnt my head with sparks lol), & wiring up morettes!

On a plus point....

I won't fall out the car if i crash

Oh, linkage is sorted, made it an extra 5mm longer, shortens the throw even more, bonus.

Did reverse the car into the garage, it felt good

Newest purchase....

Nice smoked lamps, got some led rear bulbs, should look decent when the rest of the bodywork is done.

Also, no pics, but gave the interior another coat of satin black, not a good idea when theres no ventilation, i nearly passed out

from yesterday...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Left to do (i know its alot, but nothing major, bar that fucking sunroof everyone is sick of hearing about )

Interior...

Fit steering wheel, new boss needed
Fit snapoff
Buy Carbon doorcards & full length rears

Suspension / Steering / Brakes

Bleed brakes
sort rack / track rods out (have spare rack, needs fitting & track rods fitted, which are there too, getting done just before paintshop get it)

Engine / Box

2 x jubilee clips for intake
buy bonnet stay
Battery clip needed

Exterior

Sunroof, getting a plate made up, sort of a baking tray stylee thing, but placed upside down in hole, then welded from the inside, then a skim on the roof.
Buy Polycarb window kit
Petrol cap needed
ariel needed
scuttle panel needed
wiper arms needed
door seals needed

paint car

refit...

bumpers
skirts
spats
spoiler
morettes
mirrors
tailgate
smoked rear lamps
smoked side repeaters

Finally...

Underseal / stone chip the whole underside.

all done

May be some clearance issues i think?

Seats & harnesses totally finished now, phew!

Thats it for now!

Car is going to get the rack swapped next week, then the sunroof welded up, then finally painted!

Aye, need to get the gsi bumper out of the other lockup & try it on, will have to see if the std bumper is any shallower.

You could remove the rubstrips on the doors and you could also do a semi smooth boot like this

Good Progress

Nice project mate. I had to have a stainless plate put on the bottom of my manifold. Acts as a skim plate when I'm driving it, Hits the road etc.

Might have to get a titanium one next hehe, cos i'm nearly through again...

Like a sump guard?

Was thinking of getting one made up, fixed to the front panel, going back & fixing it to the floor.

Titanium, hmmm, where can i get a plate of that from?

will have to do some measuring soon.

Will be good if theres any oil leaks, will fit a catch tank at the back & have the plate on an angle

Cheers guys.

dont forget, this has taken me over a year to get to this stage

Bear in mind aswell i work away thru the week, so only have weekends to play, and a nagging gf who wants the flat decorated

White one belongs to my mate Dave, Vaux Technician, handy bloke to know.

His is 2.0 16v, goes pretty well, he went comfort route & fitted Calibra Leather.

Hoping to get some time off soon, as i have managed to get Achillies Tendonitus, and have to rest my ankle, so im going to go to the garage & get some more done on the car

Ordering carbon doorcards / interior bits & some polycarb windows this week

Any ideas i can go for, let me know.

New Rims en route......

Revolution Milleniums, et46, 6x15.

Look like my Caseros, but rather than get mine blasted & coated, its just as good to buy some new rims full stop.

Muchos Happios.

Polycarb windows will be 2-3 weeks, same with carbon interior bits.
