I think my thermostat is stuck open as the car does seem to get to running temperature very quickily, been told to replace the thermostat.

Just been down to vauxhall and they quoted me £96 for the part.

Does anyong know of any other way of fixing the thermostat or know where I can get one cheaper.

Just been on the phone to A to Z car parts and they want £8. They said the stat comes out of the housing.

Matey at vauxhall said to me that it comes with a flange, I said for £96 I'd want the whole women.

But I assume vauxhall only sell the stat with housing and flange, does this sound right.

It doesn't come apart and it won't seal back up.

I changed mine and found that out the hard way. Had to wait for my mate to fining work to give me a lift to AutoVaux.

I think that for £96 you'll be getting new coolant all the way through the system. I'd do that anyway if i were you.

Any other views, last thing I want to do is prize the stat out of the housing and not be able to get a new one back in.

Its the X14XE engine if that helps

It does come apart ffs
It just twists out of the housing, it has two metal tabs on it.
Took me a while to figure it out, but it IS removeable.

But that ring that seals it all, well doesn't after you've had it off. And that is a real pig to get out.

Yeah, they are difficult to remove, but it does come out.

I replaced mine, with a £6 thermostat from a motor factors. And its fine.
