They also have a reading problems with high capacity hard drives. Don't expect a 500gb HD to be recognized.

I've got a USB port on my Kenwood stereo. I just plug a 1GB USB drive into it, but a HDD would work, yeah.

A hdd wont work mainly as the power needed to run one isnt been provided from the head unit, altho make a seperate power supply and it should work ok!

Put HDD in external box such as icy box and buy a cigarette adapter to DC IN. Voila problem solved
Edit: or maybe this http://cgi.ebay.com/Power-Adapter-DC-Cigarette-Lightr-Port-Black-Molex-Conn_W0QQitemZ140159059134QQcmdZViewItem
