no i used a fuel system cleaner a long time ago to try and clear it.
after reading around ive narrowed it down to either the egr or the icv.
ill try and get it cleaned and replace the egr as i have a spare,
may have coked them up when my dispac gave up and was puffing out gallons of black smoke
thanx for you suggestions though

I used Redex when I got the car as I've done that to my vehicles whenever I've got it, but it reacted badly to it and would shudder, took about 2 months to get rid of it and runs nice now

i canny remember to tell the truth it was about 2 year ago, but this is usualy the problem with the XE engines except the 12XE where the air flow meter goes a lot, have you tryed doing the paper clip test? it could even be the hego/lambda

i have had it diagnosed on a machine and no faults were found stored on the ecu.
