Sorry. I forgot to update you.
It all works now. I just slackened the 13mm nut put a 5mm drill bit into the hole by the gear knob and pushed the button on the gear box. Tightened the 13mm up then pulled the button out and removed the drill bit.
It took less time to do it that it took you to read that
All working now and i am very impressed.

Nothing at all.
All you need is Bent Nose External Circlip Pliers to do the job.
just reuse everything that you take off.

It's easy. If they have done one before then it'll take them 45mins to an hour tops.

No sorry.
You can't see anything underneath. Just the little ball bit and the circlip that is holding it on.

I've got an old nokia phone that doesn't have a flash at the mo. So you wouldn't have seen anything.
Although whilst flicking through my Haynes manual i found a good pic that i'll scan and put up for you.

Oh yeah, you just need a long flat head screwdriver. With your fingers lift up the wings on the side them with the screwdriver twist it and prize it up. Then you'll be able to remove it with your hands.
But when putting it back in you need to tap it with a hammer. I use 2 extention bars and tapped them onto it.
