hey, what would be the best stuff to remove paint from metal?

just sprayed a bit of my gear knob black and some paint has managed to sneak through the masking tape...

Before I got my corsa some drove in bright green paint and it was all up the side, used carb/injector cleaner which totally got rid of it but didnt affect the original paint.
