i was drivin along at 30mph in 3rd and when i went to put my foot on the throttle a little bit it seemed to judder like there was power then no power etc.

got to some traffic lights and the revs just went allthe way to zero and cut out, tried to start it again and it wouldnt, needed to put my foot on accelerator to get it up to bout 3000 rpm before it would start but then it would just go straight back down and cut out when i took my foot off the accelerator.

some passer by pushed to the side of the road thankfully because i felt like a knob in the middle of a junction hahaha

then it started as normal agian lol.

just happened again, i can hold the clutch in and the revs stay but as soon as i bring the clutch up the revs die??

anyideas??

Sounds like idle valve is not opening, is the ecu light on?

Whistling sounds like an air leak. Spray carb cleaner around inlet gaskets etc, see if the revs drop.

Worth removing the idle valve and cleaning it, seeing as its easy to get to with a inlet box fitted.

right happened again just now. try and describe a bit more.

wen im going along at say 30mph and i put my clutch right down, the revs should drop to bout 900 but they will not go lower than 1800rpm/2000rpm.

then when i stop say at some lights with the clutch in the revs stay highish as soon as i try to lift the revs by giving some accellerator the revs die and only go back up when taking foot off accelerator. also if i try to lift the clutch the revs die and the only way to stop it cutting out is to put the clutch back down.

after a while it starts workin again.

please help anyone??

MAF/MAP sensor fault? Air leak in the vacuum pipe is likely if there is one. I wish I was better clued up about vaux engines.

The ICV would explain the cutting out but the power loss and juddering sounds like a dodgy air/fuel ratio which would indicate to me a faulty sensor on the inlet or an air leak after the MAF/MAP sensor. Just a guess.

Lambda wont cause a high idle.

Its either the idle valve jammed open, or a air leak somewhere letting air in.

on start up the revs will be fighting to stay high enough (around 500rpm) so it doesnt cut out which sometimes it does and other times it start to rev and go up to 1500 and idle there , also exhaust pops lots.

im really concindering taking it to the garage tomorrow now, what do u wreckon??

mine did this for a while not so long back, tried to taking it easy approach but never worked, my EGR valve was playing up at the time so dont know if it was related?! i took it for a good thrashing and it cleared up

also check the wires going to your map sensor, may have snapped one.
