To cut a long story short, I started stripping the x16xe head off my corsa at 7pm friday night, after a 10 pack of redbull and a loong night, by 9am saturday I'd fitted an f13cr gearbox and a rebuilt c16xe head.

After some fiddling round with the HT leads (had a nasty misfire at one point )

about 2 hours later, took the car out for a spin.....12 miles down the road theres a chhhhhhhhh noise then clunk
upon closer inspection, the timing belt tensioner bolt has broken off, timing jumped all to fcuk

result is probably fucked pistons and definately bent valves (the crankshaft turns over with no compression

First thought, do you think i'd get away with just replaing the valves, and maybe pistons? engine was idling when it broke the tensioner off

Doubt it will have done any piston damage, but will bet it has cracked most of the guides!

45_CB, yes mate I ran it for about 15 minutes before it went bang, very impressed with 3rd and 4th gear in particular, very quick up to 90mph now

I've had a look on ebay, theres a few companies that can rebuild engine heads for anything inbetween £150-£275, all i've seen so far is rebuilds for x16 heads thoug, not c16's

Also valve kits seem awful cheap, like £15 for a set of inlet/exhaust valves?

heard a sort of grinding noise when I clutched, revved the engine a bit and it went, then at idle it was grinding again (found out later the grinding was the tensioner rubbing the back of the crank pulley )
Then clunk, the engine stopped

Oh forgot to mention too, send mother dearest to my local vauxhall dealer today, the robbing coonts want £23.68 PER inlet valve (yes thats 1), and an exhaust valve is 5 quid more

So when I see this on ebay, I wonder would these be the exact same items?
