Had someone interested in my car via the piston heads ad. He contacted me a week ago saying he's just waiting for the cash, and he contacted me again last night saying he has the cash waiting! He's from Manchester though, I'm from Basingstoke! (200 odd miles away!)

He said he'd be up for meeting halfway.. I told him it's too far for me to drive unless he deffo wants the car and he said he understands but he can see its in great nic and will definitely be buying it there and then.

My parents reckon it sounds dodgy, how can I make sure it's not?

You can never be too sure.. If you met him halfway, how would you get home anyway?

Was going to ask for that.

TBH I see no problem with this but I always seem to get stitched up.

I met Mark half way round the M25 when we swapped cars, he travelled from manchester. Depends how confident you are. Talk to him on the phone, if in doubt take a mate or 2.

200miles isnt far IMO, fair enough if the lad was travelling 400miles then yeh.

Non refundable deposit first incase he dont want it and youve spent £60 on petrol running 2 cars 100miles and back.

Take a couple of mates or your dad etc as it'll make you feel more comfortable anyway.

If they can make it half way, they can make it the next 100 miles to your house surely?

Agreed

I wouldnt drive 100 miles to sell someone my car. You can never be sure they will buy it even if they say they will.

Just say yes you will meet him halfway but you want a £100 non-retrurnable deposit first.

Either that or he can come to your house.

Remember as a seller you are the boss in the transaction

Why can't you go to PVS? I REALLY want to go, a lot. This car has been most of my life for the last year.. Now it's being sold before a real show so no one can appreciate it.

Going on holiday on Sat though.

My mate met some Asians from Bradford in a petrol station when selling his Leon Cupra, only one of them could speak English. He asked me to come along just to be on the safe side. The lad who drove it was driving on behalf of the guy looking to buy, who also couldn't drive He thrashed the car and needless to say never bought it.

Not being racist, just explaining why they weren't communicating in English!

Or they might meet you with a few guns and just take the car off of you.

Don't do it.

No offence as i've seen Dom's car at Ace Cafe and it is fit, but don't you think they'd choose a more expensive car if they are planning GTA???

If they wanna nick your car then whether you meet em half way or give em your address they'll take it!
