between my brake set up and the 2.0 GTE's?
Mine are 256mm so are the GTE's.
Is it the caliper that makes all the difference? Is it worth changing mine?

Your discs are 20mm wide, the 2 litre ones are 24mm, so you need the different calipers.
The 2 litre ones are better as they don't get hot as quickly,

4mm. That a lot.
I was thinking about just putting them on. I have grooved discs already.
Dunno what to do now.

not always necassary to get disc conversion for the rear on an xe for the % of breaking they do. Have you got your compensators set right if your car has been lowered

Rear disc conversion is pointless.
Have to get the right proportioning valves if you dont want the rear to lock up and put you in a hedge.
