not sure if anyone can help me on this on as its not in the slighest bit car related but i have just installed a wireless linksys router and have today recieved a Wireless adaptor so i can run my internet wirelessly.

my problem is that the netgear wireless suport is telling me that i am connected to the router, but for some reason the router is not wirelessly connected to the internet??? is this some sort of securtity setting i have not set up?

it works when plugged in wired but not when done via wireless?

any help would be brilliant

Do you mean without the router plugged into the phone line?

it will still need to be plugged in

no router is plugged into the phone line but the router is in my room, so i wanted the internet wireless to my PC

so you can browse using the router/modem when its connected by a wire but not wirelessly?

When you search for networks does it find the router?

yes it finds the router but its tells me that its not connected to the internet, however i am able to browse the net if connedted wirelessly? so i am just not sure if my connection is some how restricted via a security measeure that i have not activated or something silly lie that

so you can connect to the router perfectly fine but just cant get any pages to load?

it is a netgear wireless adaptor and the software tells me

'Wireless connection to router ok but problem with router'


how do i set up wep key/firewall?

it tells me that it has found some and asks me to select a passphrase which i have, then i have copied the one out of the linksys set up and it still wont connect to the internet

the firewall on the PC? it might be restricting access?

how do i check my firewall? is that my talk talk online security? or is the firewall on the router set up?

in the internet explorer i just get the no connection to server page

when just connected wirellessly i cant even go into the router setting by typeing

no you wont be able to, need to be wired i think.

If you can't get to the router homepage your not connected to the router properly.

Only on some routers only if its not set up yet.

You normally have to connect by wire to enable it.

After that you can get it from anywhere though.
If he could connect to the router via wireless he would be able to view the settings page.

Reset the modem and it all seems to be working now, god knows what was wrong?
