you using genuine vaux gaskets or cheapys off ebay? I put an ebay one on mine and it was crap.

I wouldnt use silicone, use a decent sealer (not instant gasket)

Also are you tightening the rocker up correctly?

hmmm may sound silly but when you did the gasket you did scrape off any old sealer etc etc off the mating face where the new gasket sits didnt you?

If i was you id:
1) Get the rocker cover back off tonight
2) Clean the mating face up thoroughly but dont score it!
3) Clean the gasket up getting all silicone off (be fine if it was only fitted yesterday)
4) Get some propper decent gasket sealer to put under the gasket where it leaks (not too much! dont want any going in the block
5) Torque the rocker cover up propperly and let it set for an hour then let the car warm up, no revs! then leave it over night.

Really if you have the genuine gasket torqued up correctly you shouldnt need any sealant at all but you may have crushed the gasket now so a little may be needed just dont go OTT with it.

Best off going to an autofactors and asking for a decent hammerite sealant, tell the bloke what its for and he should recomment the best one.
