After a recent problem with my throttle-bodied C16XE, I've had to remove the head.
Whilst it's off are there any mods that can/should be done to improve performance. It has already been ported/gasflowed/skimmed and has double valve springs.
I'm thinking things like Bronze guides? Cut back the guides so they're flush with the port? (will this show a significant gain?)
The head will be fitted with 288deg Newman cams when it's refitted, it's revved to 8krpm, has omega pistons, L+B bottom end etc.
Anyone recommend (or not) things like SBD Nylon relief valve (seems expensive for what it is), steel oil pump gear etc...

my damage was from an iron one snapping

Not sure on what gains are acheivable from cutting back the guides.... better flow, but will it weaken the guide/put more strain on valve?

I had the SBD (all be it c20) oil pump, nylon relief etc - no probs.... peace of mind.

I had the same thoughts on cutting back the guides, i.e increased strain...
I've never had a problem with my headgasket and SBD reckon the cometic needs to be used with studs which = Big money! (100+ for gasket 100+ for studs!)
