I've put £30 worth of fuel in my car and only done 24 miles and the fuel light is on (i know i'm a mad driver, but not that mad).

I can't see any leaks but can smell petrol. I don't think it's been syphened coz the flap isn't broken.

Is the sender a common problem on these?

Is there and way to see if the tank is full?

All sorted now. It's the sensor.

Now its always on empty with the bulb on.
