hey, just fitted an amp and speakers on rear shelf, amp is 104 watt x 2 rms and speakers can handle 100 watt rms, all seems to be wired up correctly. cranked up volume a little and after 30 secs smoke started coming out of speakers. shut down the stereo and disconnected speakers, i will check in the morning what went wrong as it was too dark at night, anyone knows whats happened, thanks in advance guys.

sounds like you've killed em mate, though if they still work you've got lucky and turned it off before you completely fried them.

checked all the wiring all is ok, i read somewhere that the voice coil may have burnt or melted because the gains (frequency on amp thing) was too high, but i switched it off straight away so may have saved them, seem to be working fine althoug one of them sound funny, may replace them later when my bank balance becomes healthy but at least im getting sound from them instead of smoke lol, thanks for your help guys

What make are they? Sounds like there fucked tbh. Not worth having in the car as it could cause an electrical fire.

I'd just run them off the standard wiring for now, as this shouldn't cause the coil to heat up. Thats if you have not completely badgered them
