[QUOTE=Rob206GTI]As I'm off work this week and was joined by John (John Lloyd) and Stew (5tew 180) who both had today off, we decided to drive over to Blackpool for a change of scenery. Whilst there we decided to hunt down the old TVR factory to see what was left of the company and if there was anything interesting to see. The factory was all locked up and apart from a couple of workers we saw walking between some of the buildings, it was a bit like a ghost town.

It was a bit strange to be honest, as whilst I've never been before, I imagined that you would've heard the sound of the cars being driven around the grounds and seen quite a few of the cars parked up when the factory was open. Not today though. All there was to see was the remains of yet another British car manufacturer.

I had my camera gear with me as usual and took plenty of pictures, most of which were taken through the fencing and security wire. I thought some of you might be interested to see what currently remains of TVR. Unfortunately, it wasn't a pretty sight...

Properly gutting to see that

It's just Blackpool Automotive that shut down though? Aren't TVR's being built in a new factory now in Europe?

i propose a daring raid by moonlight on camelback on the factory and rob ourselves as much as possible in a bid to make one for nothing, who's with me?

not totally true! the Mg/Rover site i was on yesterday (gaining info for a ZR120) i read a post saying the Chinese have started the production back up again at longbridge with a run of MGTF's, these are only prototypes with the new N series engine, basically its the Chinesse K Series engine with all the uprated parts to stop the head gasket going! Think the run was of 43 or something silly like that and are mainly being hand built. full production was said to be starting again Late April early May, how true this is i'm not 100% sure!
But having the Engine built in china should bring prices down, now if they have done it correctly then you should find the N series being more reliable than the K series. the problem that will arise is delivery times as they need to get the engines from china to the uk to mate with the Chassis!

But...... this is the good part, as the car will be finished in the UK it will still be a "Brittish" car.

how do i know? well the company i work for is going into supply from china and some of the stories i have heard is that 99% of the worlds products are built in china, shipped to the country they are "built" in, the box then taped up and then can be sold as made in germany for example.

It's rediclous really. It's not just one company. If it were one it would be sad and people would read a story about it in the newspaper for a few days and then forget about it. But for a whole industry to just dissapear and move into Europe is plain stupid. I could understand slightly more if they all moved east, but that isn't even the case. What's going on here?
