Yep, thats right, we get loads of cars at work that look fine, but are damaged underneath the bumpers.

That sounds really promising. I think that is what I'll need doing, may be a little less. Then again I'm not accident repair specialist you can speculate for hours, but I just hope it won't be a write off. Also have £350 excess, so that may make the difference between write off and not.

Only the wheels were declared because lights and grill didn't need to be, only if I wanted them replaced in the event of an accident it will be put back to manufacturer spec. So if someone has a spare, left hand Depo headlight, I am on the look out! If they query the rear wiper, I'll claim I was missold it and don't have the receipt.

i didn't take mine through the insurance as everyone said it wouldv'e been declared as a write-off though had the work done privately, nothing comes up on HPI check or and no claims on insurance car is perfect now though, repaired to a very good standard.

I rang the garage holding my car after the weekend it was sitting there (it went in thursday night). By then they had taken pictures and sent them off to my insurance company
Then i got a phonecall 2days later with an offer! Hopefully yours will be the same as that was only 3weeks ago! Lovely car you have mate. Gutting

The garage it was taken to is a Zurich Certified repairer, so I think they value it and don't have to send anything/call anyone out from Zurich.

Ahhh, I'll wait till Thursday morning when I have to take the courtesy car back and ring then.

No, because she was so close to the corner, that after I had looked to the right (to make sure I don't get the side of my car smashed into) then looked to the left, I saw her car and had to brake, hard.

It seems like a stupid accident - you need to go to that junction, see it, and get used to driving it, then you'll know what I mean.

The crash repair centre has just phoned. . .

. . .they're going to REPAIR!

How f*cking happy am I? I'm over the moon. The only problem is I have to take the courtesy car back and swap it for another, as the one I have is booked out. Hopefully I'll get a new Corsa

But yeah, "12v powaaahhhhhh!" is going to be back on the road.

1 more thing. The other headlight hasn't been touched, so unless they get new ones in pairs, I'll have one Depo and one standard I think they may get confused when they fit the new one. If the passenger wing is replaced, I may also have odd side repeaters.

Main thing though, is I get my pride and joy back - £350 excess helped me out I reckon.

Only thing to wait on now is how much the people I crashed into will claim. Could it be record insurance on a 12v come September?

Just realised I've been waffling, but I am uber happy

Glad you're getting it fixed mate, would have been absolutely gutted for you if they had written it off as you'd only just got it looking how you wanted.

The insurance engineer actually went out to look at it, which is strange, because I thought the idea of it being Zurich certified is that someone didn't have to.

I am lucky that I had just washed it and done all the plastics etc so it was looking nice. Cars must make a good impression, like the recovery driver said, so if it was make or break with being written off, they decided to repair because of the condition.

That is what I hope anyway

Naaa they didn't. But I did ask when I was there, 7 to 10 days is the general repair time. As Vauxhall parts are pretty easy to get AND there is a Vauxhall garage about 2 min drive from crash repair centre, hopefully Friday next week it'll be done.

Nice one fella. at least your getting your car back!

When i had my SR written off down Great Yarmouth seafront it was kinda clear it was written off, lucky my dad works for a recovery company so he got it picked up and returned home, we looked at it before the insurance bloke did and knew it was going to be a write off, boot floor was creased and a small bit of chassis was bent!
They gave me £285 + one dead Nova SR!

Thanks Claire - but it is all good now, being repaired. Still not ideal, but better than nothing hopefully won't make it too difficult to sell. I always keep all paperwork etc so should be fine.

Well, I'm going back tomorrow to exchange courtesy cars, as the one I have is booked out - with a bit of luck I'll get a new Corsa

Anyway, I'm going to ask them how much the repair is valued at. Any guesses?

I think £1100, and my £350 excess stopped it being written off.

Better than me getting a shitty pay out and getting a really bad Corsa.
This is the company that is doing it - http://www.acrbedford.co.uk/ - I read through their website. I don't think the repair will be too shoddy.
