yes i am starting to rebuild the car for the summer, hopefully it will be finished by june.
the differance being that this time i want to do most of the work myself :? (this will involve me fucking up A LOT).
the bump i had the other day just pushed things along nicley so started today.

first i had to free the light that was jammed in by the surrounding housing

once it was out, i sorted the electrics that were severed then time to remove the front bumper

i had a few problems on the drivers side due to the bolt holding the bumper on being corroded and in a funny position, came off in the end tho with a bit of healthy persuasion
then i cleaned the slam panel and stuff up a bit, and it sits like this untill i can find a new front (looked around some local scrappys today- no joy) i would like a gsi front but id settle for a post 97 tbh. get a gsi later maybe.

sort some parts out hopefully this week . then i can attempt the bodging phase :?

fit the front bumper today just to make sure it did fit, also so i could run around for a few days to collect parts i need

offered the bumper up, looked like this

anyway i had to modify the grill slightly too so i could open the bonnet (i didnt mind chopping it up a bit as i have a spare anyway)

im thinking about spraying the chrome bits black?

looks like this on the car

next few days will be spent collecting bits n bods i.e. new wheels, bodge etc. i might put the post 97 rear on, still undecided on that

the bumper will be smoothed and painted,(also needs extending as it doesnt meet the arches flush, not as far away as i thaught it would be mind), the skirts will also be smoothed and possibly raised a bit as i have ground clearance issues atm.

i like the contrasted effect actually

im undecided on the rear at the min
post 97 bumper smoothed and painted?
or as is? (see garage)

cheers for the comments

best to use the post 97 standard rear smoothed imo.

i would adapt the archs to suit the bumper rathher than build the bumper out. be alot easier
