found the bottom of here covered in sticky blackness! this my sump??? seems to be coming from above left of it as you look at the car....



dark liquid near bottom of cambelt...



and here....



doesnt smell looooads of oil though, even when i wiped me finger in it - and isnt that sludgy if you get me. ideas? and if it is a leak - ideas where it's coming from? cheers because i hate things wrong with the car, and if i've caught it early i can get it fixed

Could be an oil pump gasket, Only thin, and will cause oil leaks!

Bit of a badger to fix though!

how much you reckon it would cost to get a garage to lok at / fix whatever's wrong?

as a guess, oil from that area is likely to be either oil pump as phil said or crankshaft oil seal. or possibly cam oil seal thats dripping down or rocker cover gasket.

any oil leak near the cambelt should be fixed asap.

crankshaft/oilpump/cam oil seal should cost 2 hours labour + the cost of new gasket (all about £10) plus the cost of a new belt kit.

luvly. the leaks below the cambelt so shudnt do anything major to it hopefully,
i dont have any money though so how long is ti safe to leave it?
