what do you mean by arching?

Have you tried the usual thing of cleaning the ICV?

the ht leads are sparking to the engine block, can be seen quite clear at night.
im thinking its that thats causing the idle to fluctuate.

also what could i use to clean the icv? is it wise spraying carb & choke cleaner into the air intake pipe?

wont do any harm spraying cleaner in there but wont reaaly clean the icv,you need to take the icv out to clean it properly mate.As for the arching it sound like an earth problem. Is the plug that goes into the coilpack in correctly? If so id say the earth in the engine bay was corroded or loose or a fucked coilpack is the fault!
