right. taken the car for a drive, everything feels fine, idle isnt lumpy at all after being started bla bla.

but if i leave my keys in the ignition on 2 clicks so all the warning lights are up, at timed intervals there's like a double click going on and on and on.

what the hells going on?????

I had a similar problem. Sprayed some carb cleaner through the throttle body. Spot on.

Try that first. Cheapest option.

Take throttle body off for a thorough job. I just sprayed it through with engine running cos I'm lazy.

I did it a couple of months ago but idle is starting to drop down again so may have to give it a proper clean.

I removed the plastic top-hat thing off the throttle body then started it up opened throttle slightly and sprayed.

That's on a 1.2 16v don't know if yours will be the same Dan.

Edit: cos of talking crap.

Was it you who adjusted your throttle cable, back it off a couple of things on the ridged bit of the cable. Sounds like its too tight, mine did this when I over adjusted it.

justreset the ecu and it started fine with no clicking, but then i took the keys out and turned them two clicks and it did it a bit. but not every time like before.

yer im gna give that a go joe - see if it helps.(didnt happen straight away but worth a try!) but what's making the click noise?

The clicking noise is normal, its just because the ignition is on. The engine is priming itself getting ready for starting. But backing the cable off a touch should solve the struggling to start.

well now that ive reset the ecu just gone out and listened and its only clicking once, which i think as you say is normal? instead of a million times.
Plus now there's no struggling to start at all and after about 6 starts being fine, just to make sure i slackend off the cable so theres a 1/4 of a cm of play
try resetting your ecu haimsey
