Ok im wanting to put a smaller style number plate on the front of my car with the 50mm lettering I think? Was just wondering whether it is legal or not?

Ok, there is a long and a short. The short is basically smaller plate = illegal. There are exceptions and variations etc... So just have a look here -

Cant you chop the number plate size down though, i didnt read the DVLA thing properly, but as long as you keep te letter heights/spaces correct, thats all that matters.

i believe that there needs to be a certain amount of space between the letters and the edge of the plate.
just put the smaller plate on and if the police say anything then tell them you had them on for a show and youll change them straight away.

Well the thing is my dad has a smaller plate on his TVR and hes never had any trouble, but he always carries a large plate in the boot so maybe thats the way to do it?

yup thats the way ive heard of most people doing it
just remember its still illegal and if you get stopped and the copper wants to be a cockmuncher he can give you a fine (£30 i think)

theyre only legal on vehicles registered before something like 1973 so unless your corsas very old then it wouldnt be legal for road use, and i cant see the coppers being too happy if you did have them on
