Not a bargain in the big picture

You wouldn't lose as much as you think though, because you bought it cheaper. You aren't going to lose, for example, £3k/year off £27k, you'd lose £3k/year off £37k.

utter crap.... they are only worth what they sell for! If they were selling like hot cake's do you really think they'd just slash 10k off.

2yr old examples are being sold for about £16k so expect to loose £5k a year in depreciation if buying one!! Hard hit but not as bad as some top end performance motors!!

Is it just me that doesn't care about depreciation? I couldn't give a monkeys what my car wuld be worth in 2/3 years. I kept my Corsa for 3 1/2 years and lost loads, I don't care. As long as it serves me well for around 3 years then i'm happy.

I do care yes id never buy a brand new car....id cry when I found out how little its worth just 12 months later!! Who was it on here (marv maybe?) was saying someone he knows bought a brand new top of the line signum & lost 11k on it in a year Id consider suicide

I do accept whether you buy an old car or a new one your either going to have to lose money on it some way or another either on keeping it on the road or through depreciation but id like to try & keep either to a minimum & when your talking £5k thats alot of money to most folk!!

Nath - a corsa DOES NOT lose the same value as a big vaux you muppet!

If you go and buy a new Vaux off the forecourt, for the advertised prices you are going to lose a lot of money. Do you have so much money that you arent bothered buy simply throwing it away?

I can afford new cars, just simply refuse to pay the premium to own a new car. I'd much rather a 1yr/2yr old car, hardly used for a much cheaper price.

Dont you mean 11/12 yr old Adam??

I get what your saying

Look at Corsa GSi's for example they cost 9 & a bit grand new in 1994....some folk are still paying 1/3 of that 12yrs later!! Thats even worse imo!!
