Nope - we legally couldn't give it out, plus I don't want to pick up every trade problem just because my data is good, thats the job of the people trading, hence the sig.

Yes your right - although in saying that how many 'new' members would feel comfertable giving out their address to an unknown site of unknown operators, might come accross dodgy - they know your car....they know you address

Agreed, but if they are genuine, they will have no problem gibing this out. I know I wouldn't aslong as the information wasn't abused etc.

I don't think this is about 'getting around' a requirement. One of the reasons we didn't get in today is that we were nice and honest with what we are doing and what we plan to do.

possibly not the best wording but if it was a one off payment of £5 surely its not as bad for people as say 12.50 per year that preems pay?

As part of a criminal investigation, yes. Being honest the police would laugh at most of the 'fraud' that goes on. Paypaling money to people who you don't even have a phone number for. The only crime there is how naive the buyer is.

Can we keep this thread on topic also please

Nochex fee would mean we would see about £4ish of that, which we've then got to buy a sticker with, package it and post it.

There's no business case for that. Its not for profit, all it does is take someones time up. I would rather give the memberships for free. We don't need the money same as new members don't need stickers. If they want them, phone John. If they want to be part of the web site, use the automated system that we already have so that the place can survive without supervision.

Fact is we don't have staff therefore we don't have the time to faff about with stickers and keyrings.

How do other clubs that are part of VBOA deal with their requirements and is it down to a body to decide who can become a member or is there a general framework they work to ??

We need to decide if we're happy or not making changes just to conform to their standards.

At the moment our setup is a good one, its not their ideal way of doing things but we've prooved that it's successful. They have been around for years & they clearly don't seem to embrace change, especially from younger people. Or at least that was the impression I got, a lot of them seemed to have a very sterotyped view of the type of people we represented.

Times change, and eventually so will procedures for stuff like this. But currently it looks like if we want in, it'll be us that'll have to make the changes.

The address info is so that we have contact info should that member cause any trouble etc at a meet. Its also needed for the Public Liability insurance which is also a must (we have decided that we'll be taking this out anyway regardless of what decision we make about joining VBOA). Plus trading with a verified member would help to put your mind at rest. But we wouldn't be alowed to give it out due to DPA.

We've established that premium membership in their eyes is more of a contribution than a membership. Our options are to either verify people or have an additional membership fee for people wanting to attend shows.

There was lots to discuss & we sort of ran out of time. We have a few months to talk it over as well which is a good thing.

We spoke to Tom from MIG about this, the policy there is that they only sell tickets to club members.

They come up with systems and tell VBOA they're using them. You're then voted in at one of these meetings.

A smaller club today was invited to join - 70 odd members but old school systems, hence they got in.

We're bigger but don't conform, hence the come back later.

yes, but what im saying is all prem members have to fill in fields with adress details when the renew/sign up

then your membership number can go on the same database as the one used for tickets etc fo shows, you prem number therefore becomes much more usefull, as thats all you need when purchasing tickets other than the £££, as all your contact details are allready on file

therefore like mig, only paying members need to provide there detials, which wont stop new members joining, as not many join and imediatly become prem

right followong on from my last post them

Tickets can only be sold for any of the big 4 shows to prem members, therefore prem membership numbers should rise, not for the income (which will help) but for the info collected, we have all the details of evreyone that has ever shown with cs from that date fowards, sorted

You were there as well

Useful input as always Steve. This is a good thing, it just requires some additional work and perhaps some negotiation on both sides.

I'm quite sure they'll come across this thread at some point as well, so if you've fucked things up for us by being a twat as usual, many thanks

Seems like it did'nt go that badly, hopefully we can address the situation now and get it all sorted. I'd be willing to pay or whatever, even though I have'nt got a Corsa to show anymore Well done Ian, Matt and William for getting everything going and having a go.

James - Not everyone who attends the 4 big shows are preems

We had nearly 100 at PVS, maybe 50% of them were preems? Plus that might be the only show they attend, which puts the total to £10 + £12.50 for preem mem

Have I got this wrong then?

Surely it's easy enough to set up a separate member list (lets say Premium+/member+) where you collect addresses without an additional payment?

edit: I meant 'without' payment
