i just got old tha they have £650 to spend and want a decent make n nice looking lcd 32" lol. so throw at me what u lot thinks best! haha

a go for the LE32R71B contrast is 5000:1 compared to the 3000:1 of the 72

Be careful with Samsung's "dynamic" contrast measurement. It's all marketing bollocks

yea i got them wrong way round. That samsung is a quality TV though get a set of decent speakers though

the reviews aint that great on it!!
Why aren't retailers telling us that unless you are willing to sign up to Sky HD you're going to have to put up with rubbish picture quality? I'm not spending almost £1000 on a TV and stand to then have to pay sky £300 then £10 a month plus your channel subscription!
This TV looks fabulous when it's switched off. It lasted 1 day at my house before I couldn't put up with the grainy, blurry picture and weak sound any longer. I got a refund and bought a standard CRT TV.
After using this TV for a few days i found myself deeply displeased with the picture quality. Any fast moving text/credits are unreadable also fast action sequences are almost unwatchable. The digital colour though vibrant can sometimes be too bright and no amount of tweaking seems to correct the problem.
I've since decided to return the TV and switch back to my 10 year old CRT which outclasses this TV in both picture and sound qualities.
The set is really impressive with excellent styling but let down by two things: picture and sound. Both are truly awful.
Buying this set was my worst buying decision for years. After the first hour of viewing I could have put my foot through the screen. The only way I can describe the picture is to compare it to the colour as seen in comics like the Beano. The colour has no subtlety, no shades of grey. If a character is wearing a black suit, it is all black or if their hair is black, it is all black without any shading. A white actor's skin is all pink - no shading.
I cannot believe that a manufacturer of Samsung's standing could put their brand-name to this current range of LCD TV technology (their PC monitors are excellent). Current LCD TVs are a step backward from the CRT TVs, which although heavy, are VASTLY superior and a lot cheaper. The technology applied in these sets is obviously in its infancy and a few years yet away from producing the quality I, for one, expect from a display technology that's twice as expensive as the technology is replacing. Reading the other reviews in this section I am curious of some of the reviewers' motives.
And don't be taken in by HD demos in stores - most viewing for the life of these LCDs (5 years) will be in SD unless you cough up even more cash for Sky.

chazsxi i read that review before i bought my tv on there, the person was probably didnt set up the digital freeview. on any lcd tv the picture will be grainy if you just watch the standard 5 channels that isnt on freeview,sky etc..
the samsung does however come with biult in freeview and the picture quality is fantastic, watching planet earth on it through the freeview and using my 360 in HD really is something else

if u want a samsung get the le32r74bdx. but its a hard choice between that and the LG 32lc2d. the toshiba 32wlt66 the sony kdl32s2030 ain't bad either.

oh by the way that style of smsung that your looking at has the speakers inbuilt (without a speaker grille) which means u have to turn up the volume quite a bit beofre u get some proper sound out of it. the LG, tosh and sony all have speaker grilles

I have a Samsung r74 and I also bought surround sound to go with it. Watching the football is a fantastic experience now.
Hard on for 90 minutes.
