iv got standard drums on the corsa i have never changed the rear brakes do i need to?stavs

They only provide a small amount of braking, so don't need to be changed as often as fronts. Take the drums off and have a look at them. They should be self adjusting, but this usually seizes up. This may be why they feel as if theres no pad left.

Buy a haynes manual and your laughing.
