Got a laptop a couple of weeks ago.
Never worked right.
On dell chat just now and they are really annoying.

They ask you to go through loads of stupid things that I have already done and asking for error codes which I checked at the time but don't have written down.

I just want it swapped for one that works

Making me run all the diagnostics again to give him error codes.
There will probably be none.
The computer is working ok atm.
Seems to be an intermittent fault that I think is related to overheating.

If it doesn't throw up any codes i'll have to run prime or somehting on it for an hour 1st.

Inspiron 6400.

Started crashing after a couple of days.
Then wouldn't boot at all, giving memory errors as soon as turned on.
When I coudld get it to boot i got ntldr errors.
Tried to install windows many many times and got disc copy errors although I knew the disc to be good.
finally got it installed and now it just randomly crashes, also seems to be heat related.

I've done enough to know its a hardware fault but the guy wanted error codes.

He's got them now so i'm waiting in anticipation.

MY brother in law good the same PC.

Got the blue screen a few times then Laptop wouldnt switch on stating memeory error. But when Dell ran the hardware checks it said memeory was okay.

Dell reset the PC to factory spec and said it was fixed. 10mins later started agin.

I re contacted them and they sent out a new memory chip and its fine now.

But your right they like to check everything twice before sending someone out.

Also dont use chat as it is so slow. Took me over an hour for the operator to read over the notes and send me new memory.

The phone is musch quicker as it took an hour to run all the checks and reset the laptop to factory spec.

phone them and tell him the laptop won't power up at all now. if you have onsite warranty, they send an engineer the next business day. I have an inspiron 6000, never had any problem...1 1/2 year now..same for a 2200, just got a 1300 works great.

I originally got in contact when it wouldn't boot at all

I had to sort out warranty issues though and then i randomly tried it one night and it worked a bit.

If they are arsey about giving me a replacement instead of fixing that one i'll say it doesn't boot at all.

From the error codes I spent 2 hours getting them from the diagnostic software they have decided it is actually broken as I said.

They will kindly send an engineer to replace the memory and motherboard.

I have declined and said I want a new one.

Awaiting reply

Probably.

I'll end up having it fixed if they won't replace.

If it wasn't off ebay originally i'd have just returned it and bought another one off them.

I know it makes no difference and then it'll work fine but I just don't like brand new equipment being pulled to bits to have parts replaced.

Why argue for a new one if they can just simply repair it. I cannot stand customers who make stupid fucking unreasonable demands when they don't know what they are talking about.

I want a new one for the sake of wanting a new one.

That is the only reason tbh.

I have not made any unreasonable demands, just said to them i'd rather a replacement instead of a repair.

I also do know what i'm talking about.

If you knew what you were talking about you would know that you can't just go around demanding new laptops. By law the company have a right to repair defective merchandise before they are obliged to replace it.

I haven't demanded a new laptop.
And if I did happen to have demanded one and got a new one because of that i'd have been happy.

I really don't see your point here.
