Don't get a gasless one theyr'e rubbish! I used to use a water cooled MIG welder and find these to be the best. They cost more though!

You can get ones that do the job. The one I have is a SIP gas MIG welder. It's alright, but there are only 3 power settings which is a bit crap. The ones we use at Uni are like £1k or more and they have a dial to adjust the power which is much much much much better.

Well he didnt say what he wanted to do with it. I had a 100 amp MIG and i couldnt get good enough penatration on any decent sized metal. My best mate owns and welding company so i had him do some stuff for me with his 200amp and the strenght is so much better.

100amp would be enough for car panels though. 200amps would be far too high.

in all honesty though, a SIP one is probably your best bet, £200-300 should get a half decent one.
