Can anyone give me a little advice on how to move the piston back to make make way for the new pads, it seems solid

G-Clamp if you can fit it in the gap.

Or a spanner.

did not have a g clamp big enough, tried spanner etc but the piston just wouldnt move

Have you took the lid off the master cylinder reservoir?

told you on the phone to pop over and pick up a g-clamp mate

after reading this it looks like you have to twist and put pressure on the piston,

what would be the best tool to twist it with

u need a tool like we have at work, it clamps to the inside of the calliper and u twist the knob on the end, it forces the piston back eventually.
