changed my cambelt today, along with tensioner, idler pulleys and water pump (the bearings had gone in the water pump i removed - lucky spot)
got it all back together, timing is spot on, went to start and it struggles to run.
sounds like a 4stroke 125 (really gutless, like its running on compressed air) and cuts out after maybe 5 seconds

any ideas whats wrong?

Make sure you have'nt disturbed any vacuum pipes or anything? Seems like the likely one to me.
