Got a 17" LCD monitor at the moment

Got a 17" LCD tele the other day, says it can be used as a PC monitor as well

How easy is it to set up? Anyone else do something similar?

I'd imagine I need some sort of splitter?

So in summary I want it to have 2 screens for the PC but be able to switch one to the TV

Cheers

A second video card will be more versitile - will give you the choice between replicating the picture on both screens or having different stuff on each. Splitter will only replicate, and also won't give you as good quality if its just a Y cable. We have them in work for the projectors and it makes the screen picture absolutely rubbish.

PCI as thats probably what slot you have. If its just for video playback a cheap one should do although for games you'll need something fancy. You also might need to play about with the setup to get games on that monitor. When I was running two cards in the past the games would just run on the AGP main card and ignore the second one.

Don't play games on PC so a cheap low rate one will do

Might connect the ol' ps2 up every now & then but thats more to do with the TV yeah?

I would say one card with two outputs is better than two cards, if you get a decent one that is, used to install these all the time in the police for the call centres etc, even did one woman that had four screens.

Most cards these days come with dual output usally being one vga and one dvi.

A Single card or two cards would be far better than that video splitter crap.

You can pick up pci graphics cards off ebay for under a fiver so just get one.

oh and @ matt for saying "Do they just solder in?"

not heard that one in awhile
