My friend is looking at getting a corsa, this one
Here
but she is worried about the mirrors and the 5th gear problem. I could prob fix the mirrors, just a bit concerned about the 5th thingy. I read on here (or novaload) that its a simply 5min job to swap ove the number 5 gear, but where would i get a new 1 from. Or would it just be simpler to stick in a new box Box how long would it take to stick in the tigra box? and what would be required?? cheers.

mirrors is someones bad wiring probley - easy. no 5th gear, not easy, have to ask some else about gearboxes (i havent got a clue ) unless you no/ or you no some one that can fix it, a new box is easiest, basicly lower or remove anti roll bar undo linkage/plugs/clutch cable and undo the 6 19mm and 3 15mm if im correct and shes out. but you should really fit a new clutch kit if you do that, my clutch felt fine but when i looked at it it was quite worn (75k miles) and the release bearing was noisy. hope this helps

5th gear replacement on a corsa is easy ,, you dont even need to remove the gearbox ,,,,,,,,, go buy a Haynes manual ,. all you need is a few simple straight forward tools and a willing to get your hands dirty

I'd be careful.... 5th's probably been fucked for ages and its been rallied about in 4th. Why did the head gasket need changed 10K miles ago?
