Why cut it down???
Its there for a reason, people who run red lights deserve all they get, you get a good few seconds from when the amber is on until it goes red then another couple of seconds before it takes the pic which is plenty of time to stop, if you cant stop then you're going too fast. Doesnt matter if you dont know the area or not you cant exactly miss bit green and red lights on poles.
I can understand speed cameras being money earners but red light cameras have a purpose.
Running a red light is an obsolute offence meaning there is no leaway, if the pics show you are clearly over the line then you have committed the offence. A friend of mine challenged one that he got and won only because the pics showed he had indeed crossed the line but had stopped immediately after it. If the pics show you half way across the junction then i'm afraid you chances are somewhat slim.

rite back and tell them you want to go on the driver improvement scheme as an alternative to getting points.
it costs £150 and it ran through your local council.
you get 2 drives accompanied by a driving assesor.
you cant fail unless you are a very very poor driver!
this will save you gettings points, BUT you can only do it every 3 years!
check your local county council site for more info.

ffs, cant be doing with points, no way you can appeal or pay a hefty fine instead of points no?
Shouldn't have gone through a red light then
I'm sure they have a time delay to allow for people who innocently ran the light as it literally changed as they approached so you must have relaised?

they dont the moment they turn red and a car passes they take a pic, even if you are part way across the line, my mate got flashed running a red light, as he was aproaching they went amber and he carried on cuz it was too fast too stop, and he had about 6inches of the car behind the line when the camera flashed him and still got done!
