If the distributor you were using had the wrong advance curve meaning the car would not rev past a certain rpm, could you solve the problem by twisting the dizzy (advancing the ignition timing) so it would run a bit worse at idle but would rev cleanly??

or does the wrong advance curve not relate to twisting the dizzy?

i'd send the dizzy to h&h ignitions in brierley hill pay my 30 quid and have it modded

well, i've got the same dizzy you had for your setup, but i just don't have the wiring to go with it. would that place be able to make a loom up for me?
