Ok, managed to source a cheap viper Finally got round to fitting it today, did have a K&N cone on, sounded awesome.
WHAT THE FLUCK?
It not only sounds like shit, (to be expected) but feels like im back in my 1.2 8v merit.
Baring in mind, im now driving a 1.4 16v sport with Viper, Mantzel inlet, and a janspeed back box. did my 0-60 tonight, bout 9.5 seconds. not really a happy bunny.
please help console me with reasons this may be, it feels smoother than the k&n, less flat spots. just feels slower than a hurse. i've got a de-cat and a straight thru middle pipe both one or none were going to go on, don't know whether to bother now. help?

Might have to reset your ECU, air fuel mix is probably up the spout from having the K&N on.

Legend, i thought of this, didn't know if it was worth hoping on, hope your right. ive also moved the intake air sensor right next to the throttle body, which ment moving it abour 6 inches closer, which i hear can confuse it.

Probably timed with a stop watch and using the speedo....

If it's doing 9.5 then it can't really be fucked lol

this is a myth. re-setting the ecu will do nothing whatsoever.

It probably feels slower because its quieter, its amazing how many people fit an induction kit to their 1.2 16v and they think its actually made a difference to the performance because its louder

I think maybe ur could be right with the sound thing, yes ur right, speedo and a stop watch, best facility's ive got at the mo, but however inaccurate it is, its an accurate comparison to before. shame if it is faster, i used to have an awesome boost of power 5,300 onwards gone now. i reset it tonight, and lucky me the eml has come on. so sick of this now.

its not accurate in any way, shape or form.

on a side note, my old corsa 1.6 used to do 0-60 in 8.7

The viper could well be actually reducing the performance.

when I had a dbilas inlet on my 1.6 it was alot slower with an enclosed induction kit (7 Bhp to be precise) than it was with an open one.

With those types of inlet manifolds you want the air to take the shortest route possible.
