Right, obviously ive got my 1.6 16v and it has a few modifications and it runs pretty nicely too so all is good ..
At the moment ive got a pipercross Viper, Dblias Dynamic inlet system, Full exhaust system including a de-cat and a few tartty bits for it.
First question is... On my viper ive had to do some adapting to get it to fit which invovled putting a plastic circular piece inside the inlet pipe for the jubilee clip to clamp onto. Because this is making the inlet tube thinner than original could it be causing a loss in BHP/TORQUE.
Secondly im quite happy with the speed and the way the car picks up but i wouldnt mind a bit of Torque, im just not sure how i can get some? Would a re-map be able to give me a higher torque or is that more to get the fueling right etc.
Thirdly, is it worth buying a FSE power boost valve, mate had one on his nova and said he felt quite alot of difference in the power and smoothness.
Fourthly and finally, Would a Manifold help such as 4-2-1 to complete the exhaust system i currently have as at the moment i just have the standard one on there.
Thanks for reading and help

this is the problem with inlets, i found myself 2k down and in the same position.
1. that little tube inside the inlet wont make any difference.
2. re-mapping will help make it a lot smoother and the power will come in sooner and raise the limit to 7200 rpm.
3. fse boost valves are shite. dont bother. ask broster nad muppetsport, both will agree.
4. a 4-2-1 manifold will help but maybe gain only a few bhp and possibly lose torque lower down.
tbh, my x16xe with a mantzel didnt feel much different after doing headwork, manifold, de-cat, enlarged tb, re-map..... the raised limit was the biggest difference. i managed to squeeze 155 bhp from it and then fitted tb's. personally i wouldnt bother doing a re-map etc... you will never get the raw power feeling with an inlet. (as i found out to my cost)

find somewhere nice with a courtesy car that you can use while the work is carried out. you can do all the above yourself apart from gettin the head skimmed
