Well i've always wanted one but only on looks alone and never actually driven one so with me being after a new car i thought now was the best time to have a go of one!

All i heard was that they are slow..slow slow slow FT-slow etc

Well first impressions it looked awsome! Black Mivec GPX..Nice stainless exhaust mint bodywork.I had major reservations about the tiptronic box but this was probably the best thing about the car and was great.

Put it this way...as it was accelerating i was looking out of the window at the view at one point!

And to think my insurance wanted an extra £40 a month to insure it over my Beemer

Good handling and nice steering feel..didn't feel like a M reg car.although suspention was a bit crashy and harsh.

The search for a good car continues but at least that's another crossed off the list

2L 20V V6 mate.

Do you know when you plant your foot and a car moves.Well this didn't! I suppose it did gain a bit of speed after about 3 hours of revving but any bloody car will do that! 200 BHP my arse.

When you put your foot down, you want to be thrown back into your seat. FTO's don't do this.

Get an impreza.

Hit man the gearbox is pretty cool

Auto changes are well smooth and if you plant your foot it changes down quick like a manuel.Tiptronic is just like a rally box..up and down but is quick to change too.

0-60 is 6.9 manual and 7.3 for the tip

told ya ftos dont feel fast as there engine is to smooth but when you compare there times against other cars in there league,, mk4 astra gsi,200sx,civic + teg type r l,,, they are all the same

btw its cheaper for me to insure a scooby than it is to insure my fto,, give adrian flux a call

7.3 my arse! No chance. My old 106 GTI was about 7.5 and it would rape it.

I can't see why anyone would own one over a scooby. Not even in the same universe let alone league!

ur argueing with the official figures iv never met a 106 on the road that matches my fto so yours must have been very fast indeed to knock about a second of its 0-60 time

they arnt meant to be in a performance league with a scooby,,, thats what mitsi built the evo for its a fwd sports coupe so your right its not even in the same universe

Man has a point needs to be compared to cars in its class, integra, fiat coupe etc.

I have not driven one but im guessing its one of those doesnt feel as fast as it actually is syndrome due to the smooth power delivery. My VRS was no slouch but it didnt feel that quick unless you watched how fast the speedo was climbing up. Similarily you get cars that feel/sound faster than then are, IMHO the CTR is such a car.

Now the Fiat coupe is a quick car!

Official figures don't mean shit to me..i drove it..it was slow and i've driven loads of cars to compare it too.Set mate is wasn't even one of them type of cars as my old A3 Turbo was like that, the FTO just made a load of noise and never went anywere.

Your the one paying more to insure one when you can have a scooby which is a just insane.I can't imagine why somone would pay so much to insure a car that couldn't outrun a 106 GTI.

And my 106 did do 0-60 in 7.5 seconds would the right gear change i can assure you.Matching an RS Focus from 30 to 70 is another thing is did with big respect from the RS owner.

Fto's are slow and handle like barges. and look gay.

I'll put money on the table and say my 106 gti would beat an fto - both on the 1/4 mile and round a track.
