As I was coming in the kitchen, the dog opened the desk drawer (Yes clever dog) Chewed up Sat Nav.

It now won't work.

Would the car insurers pay for this ? for replacement?

should do - worst case is they say no - so give them a try - its accidental damage which was beyond your control
