was cruising along minding my own business when out of nowhere a little white nova appears sat on my bumper, so I moved over, nailed it and it sailed straight on past me... spitting a nice big flame as it went... Uhhhh ohhhh 20LET nova...

with my jaw on the floor, I decided to chase it down a motorway slip road... we went round a roundabout with me in front (the joys of 4WD)... and as soon as we were on the straight slip road, it came from beind me in second, to literally just in front by the time I was in 4th, and then carried on pulling cleanly on in 4th untill we both joined the motorway and stopped playing at silly buggers.

The whole time the nova looked like it was about to wobble off the road, torque steering and twitching along... spitting flames and generally doing stuff you dont expect a rusty nova to be doing!!!!

So I went home with my tail firmly between my legs vowing to do some serious mods so this never happens again!!

Did some maths too...

standard C20LET in an 800kgs nova shell = 250bhp per tonne

standard Celica GT4 = 200bhp per tonne

and as a benchmark / referance an E36 M3 Evo = 220bhp per tonne

Now I can stay with my mates M3 Evo not a problem... but this nova gave me serious trouble!!!

So, if the fella who owns that little car is reading this, we surely have to arrange a date at Pod to let me attempt to settle that score...

I am still in shock...

I need to make some money quick time to buy a downpipe and some water injection so I can run more boost!!

Fair enough that nova would never corner like a GT4, stop like one, be as reliable etc etc. the list could go on...

but I do have to hold my hands up and say im damn impressed by the straight line speed of the thing!

No that would be much worse...

I can just about live with a crusty nova creation leaving me behind like that, but a saxo, or anything french to be honest... na! I would drive off a cliff!

JDM ST205 weighs in at 1380kgs

I had my old one on the weighbridge with me and half a tank of fuel and it weighed 1500kg exactly

rusty nova could be anywhere between 750-850kgs making it about half the weight!!

the GT4 in your garage is still running the standard turbo... which is no good for any more than about 290-300bhp

a c20let nova came into work the other day for a remap and we took that out for a test drive in the wet and as soon as the turbo kicked in it felt like it had been knocked into neutral lol and the flames were spitting out loads on that!
