Mate just called me to ask what problems to look for as his bleed valve vacuum hose melted the other night and his boost spiked around 20psi
he says it was jerking all over the place.
also says there is now a lot of oil coming from his breather pipe and he has almost filled his catch tank since friday night.
any ideas as im not to clever with turbo engines.
car is a rover 220 coupe btw

the air would drastically outweigh the fuel, you would get pre-det and shortly afterwards, a cracked piston

or could just be something simple like over filled with oil
plus rover ecu only supports 13psi, should have cut it before damage occured

yeah. Should have a boost cut unless he has disconnected it. How did he melt the actuator pipe????
If its breathing heavy that usually means Piston rings. Give each cylinder a compression test.

he says it is idling fine but is not pulling like it used to in third. he took it down the pod today and was getting 15's so i cant see it being a piston. but i have told him to do a compression test.

yeah im sure he has checked the basics, will speak to him later and get compression results. im thinking the jerkyness was the ecu if it has a cutout over 13 psi.
